I’ve been in your shoes. I’m just a regular person. I’m not a personal trainer, nutritionist, stick-insect, or cross-fitter. I am however a science nerd and engineer by training which means that as a natural skeptic. I need science, facts, and testing to back up any claims before I’ll jump on any diet bandwagon.
When I hit that magic age (can you say 40??), I realized that the weight was creeping up even though I hadn’t really changed my eating or exercise habits.
I was still eating a healthy diet and getting some exercise, but something had shifted.
The worst part was I thought I was doing OK. That is until I saw myself in a photograph and I didn’t recognize myself. Who was this person? I just didn’t look like myself, and I didn’t like it. Meh.
I knew I had to do something so I kept trying different diets and programs and the same thing kept happening. Go all in on diet. Keep it up for a week. Get too busy with commitments. Fall off the diet wagon. Over and over and over…
Something had to give…and it was always my diet commitment. I felt like I had to choose between my life and my weight.
